The Mystery Of 'The Zodiac Killer '

"Rather than hunting wild animals, I like to kill humans. Because it give me more pleasure. Humans are the most dangerous Animal".

Every criminals will leave some evidence for the investigators to prove the case. But investigators should find it by their own. But there is a serial killer in California who confess the responsibility of 37 Murders and provide all the evidences to police and media. But not yet identified or captured. 


He called himself as 'Zodiac Killer'

On 1 August,1969 Newspapers The San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Chronicle and Vallejo Times-Herald each received a letter without a returning address. Each letter had same subject and handwriting. Beginning -

         "Dear Editor,
            
                                This is the murderer of the 2 teenagers last Christmas at Lake Herman".

The letter contain further information about the murders that only known by the murderer. 

He ended the letter "Sincerely Yours, -Zodiac". Thats why police and media call him as ' The Zodiac Killer '. He threatened newspapers to publish his letter in front page of the newspaper. 

Each letter end with a symbol. A circle with a cross through it. It is known as Zodiac Killer's symbol.

The letter had some cipher writings. Cipher is a secret or disguised way of writing using codes. He claimed that the cipher contain his identity. 

Police with the support of FBI ,worked hard to track down the killer. Another letter arrived to The San Francisco Examiner, Beginning, 

               "  Dear Editor,

                              This is the Zodiac speaking "

It also discribed more murders in detail and taunted the police for not been able to identify him and his cipher. 

 Donald Harden able to solve his cipher. But he can't identify his identity. 

The police confirmed that he had committed 5 murders, 2 murder attempts. Police suspect that he had committed possibly 20-28 murders. zodiac claimed that he had done 37 Murders. In 1974 letters stoped. But not investigation. 

Victims

• In 20 Dec,1968 David Farraday (17) and his girlfriend Betty Lou Jensen (16) , where shot to death at a remote place in Lake Herman Road, California.
• In 5 July, 1969 Darlene Ferrin(22) and her boyfriend Mike Mageau (19) were sitting in parked car, when they were approached by a man with flashlight and fired them . Ferrin killed and mageau survived with really bad wounds.
• In 27 September,1969 Cecelia Shepard and her boyfriend Bryan Hartnell were sitting on a isolated shore of Lake Berryessa . A man approached them and fired at them. Shepard died and Hartnell survived.
• 11 October,  Paul stine(29) taxi driver shoot dead on his taxi in California. 

In the nearly Five decades since Farraday and Jensen murdered. The law and Enforcement is unable to identify the Zodiac Killer. 

Police suspect Arthur Leigh Allen as the prime suspect.  But not yet proved. Allen died in 1992.
